New Multidrug-Resistant Organism (MDRO) Response Guide for Nursing Homes

The HAI Prevention Program has released a new guide designed to aid Wisconsin nursing homes in  the prevention and control of a group of highly concerning “targeted” MDROs.

This nursing home MDRO response guide walks through the steps a nursing home should follow when a targeted MDRO is identified in the facility, and includes links to resources and information about the support available from the HAI Prevention Program and a facility’s local or Tribal health department.

While this guide is primarily designed for nursing homes, it may also be helpful for other long-term care facilities such as assisted living facilities and long-term acute care facilities.

The guide is being released in conjunction with the addition of three new multidrug-resistant organisms as reportable disease conditions in Wisconsin as of July 1, 2022. Find the Nursing Home MDRO Response Guide and more information about the newly reportable MDROs on the HAI Prevention Program’s Reportable Multidrug-Resistant Organisms webpage.
