Emergency Preparedness Tabletop Exercise Webinar

Emergency Preparedness Tabletop Exercise Webinar

Plan It, Test It, Be Ready!

June 12 from 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM CST | Hosted Via Zoom

$89/Member Facility | $129/Non-Member Facility

WHCA/WiCAL, in partnership with Think Anew, is pleased to once again offer the Emergency Preparedness Tabletop Exercise Webinar for facilities to comply with the requirements of the Emergency Preparedness Rule. Registration for the webinar is per facility. Each facility must have an Evaluator and Participant (see below for explanation of these two important roles). The webinar will be held Live via Zoom and the link to access the webinar will be emailed upon receipt of payment.

Facilities will gather their teams to complete a tabletop exercise that will challenge participants to think through a scenario, consider if their plan will work, examine whether their plan is in proper working order, and complete an after-action review to document all of their findings. This is a “mock” emergency situation. However, your plan/actions should adhere to and follow your emergency preparedness policy and procedures (EOP).

The Evaluator and Participants must be in the same room for the Tabletop Exercise. We recommend sharing one computer/monitor for the Tabletop Exercise.

Goals & Objectives

The goal for this table top exercise is to help your facility improve your preparedness and readiness for an emergency situation and/or patient evacuation:
1. Improving administration and staff members’ familiarity and comfort with existing emergency operations plans.
2. Test the existing Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for evacuation using a simulated emergency.
3. Provide a concrete basis for the review and improvement of each facility’s Emergency Operations Plan.

Roles and Responsibilities

EVALUATOR: One individual must be the designated Evaluator. The Evaluator is also responsible for ensuring that the After Action Report is completed. This Evaluator will assess and record details of the table top exercise, and compare results it to your facility’s EOP. The role of the evaluator(s) is to observe, assess, and capture the ideas of the group and record their evaluation.

PARTICIPANT: At least one individual must be designated the Participant. Ideally, there should be multiple individuals attending as the designated Participants. Participants the facility administrators and staff who would, in real life, respond to the need for evacuation. Participants are those who have policy responsibility, those who will have key responsibilities during an evacuation, and those who may have particular insight. The specific identity of the best participants will depend on each facility’s EOP. Participants will receive a brief overview of the rule and then have the opportunity participate in and complete a tabletop exercise simulating the process necessary for emergency response as required under the Emergency Prep Testing Requirements (Tag 0039).

Pricing is per facility location. Each facility MUST have a designated Evaluator and at least one designated Participant attend the Tabletop Exercise! Multiple individuals designated as a Participant are strongly encouraged to attend the Tabletop Exercise Webinar.
