Women of Long Term Care Symposium

WHCA/WiCAL is thrilled to announce the inaugural Women of Long-Term Care Symposium, taking place on August 13-14 at the Madison Concourse Hotel, in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin. This symposium is designed to empower and inspire the women of long-term care industry to become vocal, influential leaders and their own best advocates! This symposium is open to all women working in long term care, at any stage of their career: from frontline clinical staff to executives or dietary aids to activity directors to current CEOs. We believe that by coming together, we can facilitate change, develop more influential women leaders, and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for the women working in long term care.

Did you know, that in the United States, less than 20% of all long-term care leadership roles are held by women. Yet, over 90% of the long-term care workforce is women! It is is estimated that women provide essential health services to nearly 5 billion individuals worldwide, with an estimated annual financial value of women’s input into health systems at over $3,000,000,000,000 (yes – that’s $3 trillion). The goal and purpose of this symposium – and future symposiums – is to provide the women of long term care the support, resources, training, and encouragement needed to become leaders and influencers.

Focusing on the challenges and hurdles unique to women working in the post-acute care sector, the Women of LTC Symposium will help guide attendees to find their most successful path to leadership in long-term care. A series of experts will share insights into overcoming challenges and biases – how to mute that self-doubt and cure the imposture syndrome. The discussions and programming will empower women to believe in their own potential and their power of influence. And through all of this, we hope to build a supportive network for the women of long term care. This is just the first step and first program of many, helping to build a future with women leaders in long-term care.
