Free Direct Caregiver and Train-the-Trainer Sessions through the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing’s Center for Aging Research and Education (UW)

Earlier this year, we alerted members to UW’s Care U workshops.  Since 2014, the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing’s Center for Aging Research and Education (CARE) has delivered free one-day “CARE U” workshops for CNA’s, personal care workers, and other direct care staff who support older adults in a variety of settings. Those who are WisCaregiver Careers Certified Direct Care Professionals (CDCPs) and participate in a CARE U workshop, are eligible to receive the “Universal Caregiver” digital badge. CARE also offers free two-day train-the-trainer sessions to expand the reach of CARE U across Wisconsin.

We wanted to let you know that UW will be offering CARE U workshops and train-the-trainers in December. Applications and registrations are now being accepted for the December events at Madison College’s Truax Campus, Health Education Building.  The CARE U train-the-trainer is a two-day training targeting those who provide health education/professional development to direct care workers. The second day of the two-day training is the CARE U workshop, to which direct care workers are invited as well. Both CARE U “tracks” are offered for free.   You can learn more about both programs here.
