WHCA/WiCAL and other state provider associations conduct a statewide member survey to put the workforce crisis into real numbers every two years.
We are committed to sharing the story of Wisconsin’s long-term care community to make sure that local and state elected officials, as well as other stakeholders, understand the challenges involved with the workforce shortage.
The Long-Term Care Workforce Crisis: A 2022 Report is based on data collected through an unprecedented, in-depth statewide provider survey which showed that 1 in 4 direct caregiver positions in Wisconsin’s nursing homes and assisted living facilities are currently vacant. That number has worsened since a 2018 report, which found that 1 in 5 LTC positions were unfilled. Click the cover below to view the 2022 report!
WisCaregiver Careers is a workforce development program designed to address the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) shortage in Wisconsin nursing homes by providing free CNA training, free certification testing, and a $500 bonus. The program seeks to encourage new workers to enter the field of caregiving by lowering the costs of becoming a CNA and by making training more readily accessible.
Wisconsin Nursing Homes should visit our Employer Page (https://wiscaregivercna.com/employers01/) for more information on how to get involved.
