AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing – WHCA/WiCAL Members and Partners Visit the Hill

June 9-10th, more than a dozen representatives from WHCA/WiCAL joined AHCA/NCAL’s 2025 Congressional Briefing and more than 700 advocates in meeting with members of Congress to advocate on long-term care issues.

We had a dozen members, partners, and staff meeting with members of the Wisconsin Congressional delegation to advocate on preventing cuts to Medicaid, explaining what legislation in Washington, DC means to our members and our industry, and to support regulatory and workforce policies that will help our member facilities.

Over a short 4 hour window, WHCA/WiCAL advocates split up into two groups and met with 8 of the 10 legislators who represent Wisconsin in Congress.

Groups met with staff from Senator Ron Johnson, Senator Tammy Baldwin, Congressman Bryan Steil, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald, Congressman Tom Tiffany, Congressman Derrick Van Orden, and had the chance to meet with Congressman Mark Pocan and Congressman Glenn Grothman.

Our advocates told our stories, what the changes put forward in Washington mean to our providers and staff, changes that the federal government can enact to address workforce and regulatory challenges, as well as to share what we are doing at the state level to support our members and industry.

Thank you to everyone who made the trip to Washington to advocate on behalf of our members as part of the largest AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing ever!
