Bureau of Assisted Living (BAL) releases Survey Readiness Guide
Last fall, Assisted Living providers and associations met with the Division of Quality Assurance and the Bureau of Assisted Living leadership on the survey process and ways that we can collaborate to improve the survey process for both providers and surveyors.
Since those meetings, BAL has been working on a Survey Readiness Guide which includes an overview of the survey process, what surveyors will be looking for, the regulatory citations for their work, a “shared expectations document” (Pg 11), recommendations for survey preparedness (Pg 12) and examples of questions that surveyors may ask your staff (Pg 13).
In addition to the guide, over the summer BAL updated their Survey Entrance Handout which surveyors provide upon entrance. This handout contains contact information for the regional offices and Bureau, as well as their post-survey questionnaire and other resources.
Please review this guide, share with your facilities and staff, and if you have any questions or concerns about the documents, please let Eric know so that we can get those questions answered and flag issues with BAL.
