The Wisconsin State Assembly on Tuesday passed an amended version of the 2017-19 biennial state budget on a vote of 57-39. All Democrats and five Republicans voted against the budget bill.
The budget bill includes a 2% SNF Medicaid reimbursement increase and a Family Care funding increase, which the Joint Finance Committee approved in May. Read More
The Wisconsin Long-Term Care Advisory Council (WLTCAC) met on Tuesday this week to address several critical issues related to long-term care providers and the long-term care services and supports in the state.
One of the key elements that was addressed during the meeting was the review of the state’s contract with Family Care Managed Care Organizations. The WLTCAC is the entity that is responsible for reviewing the document to provide organized public feedback. Read More

On September 7, 2017, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) began to explore strategies for improving the information available to beneficiaries on post-acute care (PAC) options and eliminating regulatory barriers which limit hospitals from making referrals to PAC providers. The discussion was preliminary, and much work is yet to be done before recommendations to Congress are finalized. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published a MLN Matters article titled 2018 Annual Update of Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Codes for Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Consolidated Billing (CB) Update. The article indicates that Change Request (CR) 10262 makes changes to Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule designations that will be used to revise Common Working File (CWF) edits to allow A/B MACs to make appropriate payments in accordance with policy for SNF CB in Chapter 6, Section 110.4.1 and Chapter 6, Section 20.6 in the “Medicare Claims Processing Manual.” Read More

On Friday, September 1st, CMS released a memorandum to State Survey Agency Directors announcing that the Emergency Preparedness Training is now available.
