Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Secretary Linda Seemeyer today announced the managed care organizations selected to serve Family Care members and the IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self Direct) consultant agencies that intend to serve participants in the IRIS program in Dane County. This expansion will end the wait list for more than 450 people in Dane County with long-term care needs, including some who will have access to needed long-term care services for the first time. In early June, Senator Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls), Senator Rob Cowles (R-Green Bay); and Rep. Warren Petryk (R- Eleva) and Rep. Kathy Bernier (R-Chippewa Falls) circulated companion bills for co-sponsorship which would align Wisconsin's CNA hourly training requirements with the federal standard of 75 hours. Last week we provided members with an update on the BAL changes to the licensure process intended to promote efficiency and shorten the overall review time for initial and change of ownership (CHOW) license review. The changes announced were to begin July 1 whereby the process will be modified such that established providers will not be required to submit the full complement of documents that a first-time applicant will otherwise need to submit. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services submitted a letter to the Joint Finance members earlier this week announcing that the Medicaid program will close the 2015-17 biennium with a budget balance of $325 million GPR. Read More
For members currently participating in the WiCAL PEAL program, data for the Quarter II reporting period can be submitted starting tomorrow through July 15, 2017. Submission of your quarterly QV information is a necessary component of participation in PEAL/WCCEAL, and failure to do so will affect your participation status and access to valuable data. For those members that may have missed an entry or two in the past and that has affected their participation status, it is particularly critical for you to make your quarterly submission in order to retain full participation status. This is the second in a series of three public meetings held throughout the summer that help determine how additional nursing home funding will be spent. As this is the first meeting to be held since the Joint Finance Committee approved a 2% SNF Medicaid reimbursement increase as well as $10 million toward the BEHCI incentive, it is expected that a lot of the meeting will be spent discussing how that money will be spent.
