WHCA/WiCAL held its 38th Annual Care Classic Golf Outing this Monday, July 18th at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove. The event hosted roughly 80 golfers—first-timers and lifelong golfers alike—to raise scholarship money for WHCA/WiCAL facility employees and families, and the CHAASE (Center for Health Administration and Aging Services Excellence) UW-Eau Claire HCAD program.
After an early lunch provided by The Oaks, the outing kicked off with a shotgun start. Twenty teams of four were scattered throughout the course, vying for good scores and fun times. Also found along the links were different games to raise additional scholarship dollars, which golfers could pay to play, with the possibility of winning cash prizes at the end of the night.
The day lasted about five hours, with camaraderie its cornerstone and a good cause its guiding principle.
As teams finished up their last holes and the golfing came to a close, attendees came off the course for dinner, numerous raffle drawings, and to learn the day’s winners. Raffle prizes included cash rewards, golf passes, hotel stays, and more.
A big congratulations to Jen Johnson, Brian Purtell, Bob Richards, and Nic Weight, who ended the day with the best score and will have their names inscribed and eternalized on the golden bedpan.
