WisCaregiver Careers Funding Continues Beyond End of Emergency Health Order

WisCaregiver Careers is a workforce development program administered by the Wisconsin Health Care Association and LeadingAge Wisconsin designed to address the CNA shortage in Wisconsin nursing homes by providing reimbursements to facilities that pay for employee CNA training, CNA certification testing, and CNA retention bonuses.

The federal government announced the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency ended on May 11. The end of the Public Health Emergency did not end funding for WisCaregiver Careers though. WisCaregiver Careers funding will continue into 2024. Our ever-growing network of 270+ skilled nursing home facility partners will continue to qualify for reimbursements for CNA training, certification, and retention at least through April 30, 2024.

If you are a part of a skilled nursing home facility and have not yet taken advantage of the reimbursements offered through WisCaregiver Careers, you do still qualify. You can receive reimbursements of $1,000 for every certified CNA trainee, and reimbursements of $500 for 6-month retention bonuses as well as $500 optional mentorship bonuses. Any employee/recruit interested in becoming a CNA at your facility can qualify for the program.

Your facility does not need to offer an in-house training program to qualify but can also partner with a third-party training program through a technical college or external training provider. In addition, WisCaregiver Careers provides facilities free CNA candidate leads in your area.
