Senator Tammy Baldwin Visits WHCA/WiCAL Member, Wausau Manor Health Services

Senator Baldwin Roundtable

Last week Thursday, Senator Tammy Baldwin, held a Roundtable event at North Shore’s Wausau Manor Health Services to discuss the potential impact of Medicaid Cuts on Wisconsinites.

North Shore’s David Mills, Wausau Manor Administrator Rachel Bolder, and WHCA/WiCAL CEO Rick Abrams had a seat at the table and discussed the importance of Medicaid funding to the long-term care industry and sharing a provider perspective on the impact of any potential cuts. They highlighted Medicaid’s coverage of nursing home and assisted living residents, that this funding supports the thousands of staff who work in facilities and keeps access to these critical care services in communities across the state.

Other participants highlighted the importance of the Medicaid program to individuals with disabilities and other complex health needs, who rely on the program for accessing critical health services, sharing personal stories about their and their families’ experiences in Wisconsin.

Prior to the roundtable, Sen. Baldwin toured Wausau Manor, learning about the facility, meeting residents and staff, and learning about the challenges facing our members.

Thanks to North Shore Health, Wausau Manor, and all participants for graciously hosting Senator Baldwin for this event and helping to educate our Federal Representatives in Washington, D.C.
