Important Assisted Living News
As a WiCAL member, everyone should have received this important “NCAL Connections” edition from the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), our national affiliate. While the edition is chock-full of interesting and important information, we want to specifically direct your attention to notice that CMS has delayed the effective date of one of the enforcement provisions within the comprehensive Medicaid Access Rule. The provision pertains to the requirement that each state create a “Medicaid Interested Party Advisory Group”. CMS is delaying enforcement until January 1, 2029 although a state may act sooner if it wishes to do so.
The Access rule is quite comprehensive and quite onerous. WHCA/WiCAL will continue to work with our state Medicaid agency and with AHCA/NCAL to continue to refine and narrow the rule.
