Official Guidance on Indefinite Suspension of SNF Provider Enrollment Validation – Please Read if You Have Already Submitted

CMS logo

CMS has issued official guidance related to the indefinite suspension of the off-cycle SNF provider enrollment revalidation deadline for Form CMS-855A. This guidance provides clarity following recent communications regarding the January 1, 2026 submission date.

According to CMS’s revised subregulatory guidance:

The January 1, 2026, SNF application submission due date has been indefinitely suspended. For the time being, there is no submission deadline. CMS will provide additional information in future updates to this guidance.

As noted in prior correspondence on this issue, SNF providers that have already submitted their Form CMS-855A through PECOS or via paper submission must still respond to any requests for additional information received from their Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC). If a request includes a specified response deadline, providers should submit the requested information by that date.

Providers experiencing system-related issues that may impact their ability to meet a stated response deadline should contact their MAC provider enrollment helpdesk for further guidance.

It is important to note that the underlying SNF provider enrollment reporting policies have not changed. Providers should continue taking steps to ensure that all required information related to ownership, operational control, and managerial control disclosable entities and individuals is available and ready to submit once CMS issues further guidance.

AHCA will continue advocacy efforts to seek more rational regulations and streamlined reporting requirements, including those related to SNF provider enrollment policies.

Providers with questions are encouraged to contact the AHCA SNF provider enrollment revalidation helpdesk for assistance.
