AHCA/NCAL Perspectives in Long Term Care Podcast Episode 30 – Looking Forward in Long Term Care Featuring Clif Porter

In the December edition of AHCA/NCAL’s monthly podcast, Perspectives in Long Term Care, CEO Clif Porter reflects on 2025 and looks forward to 2026.

You have likely seen the updates from WHCA/WiCAL and AHCA/NCAL on accomplishments over the last year at the national level, however Clif noted some key priorities for 2026 and how members can help.

Of particular note, listen to ~18:50-19:58 of the podcast, though of course you should listen to the entire episode which can be found here, or wherever you get your podcasts.

In this portion of the episode, Clif speaks to the importance of members engaging with elected officials to educate them on the issues facing long-term care providers and to advocate for needed reforms with decision makers both at the state and federal level.

Expanding member engagement with elected officials is a key priority for WHCA/WiCAL into the new year. We need your help to engage with and educate our elected officials, and we welcome any opportunity to bring elected officials into member facilities to learn more about the great work that you do, providing care for their constituents. Thank you to everyone who hosted a state or federal legislator at your facility in 2025!

We can’t do it without you, Legislators occasionally reach out to WHCA/WiCAL staff with an interest in visiting a facility, and we always offer the opportunity to visit member facilities when we meet with elected officials. However, it means more to those officials if that offer to visit and tour comes directly from you. We would love to help you invite the state and federal legislators who represent you and your facility to visit and tour.

If you are interested in inviting state and/or federal legislators to visit your facility, please reach out to Eric who will:

  • Provide contact information for the officials.
  • Send sample language for the invitation.
  • Brief you and your team on the pressing policy issues and priorities to share with the Legislator.
  • Join you for the tour if able to help answer questions and provide more information to the Legislator.

Thank you for your time and consideration, we hope to get more officials into more member facilities across the state in 2026. Thank you for your help in educating these decision makers about the important issues impacting you and long-term care in Wisconsin.
