The Assembly Public Health Committee has scheduled a public hearing on AB 242, relating to maintenance and use standards for oxygen equipment in nursing homes. The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, in Room 328 Northwest in the State Capitol.
Introduced by Representative Kathy Bernier (R-Chippewa Falls) and cosponsored by Senator Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls), the authors explained the “bill simply modifies DHS administrative code to state that oxygen equipment is to be maintained and used in accordance with current standards of practice and manufacturers recommendations.” Under current law, nursing homes are required to change oxygen tubing every 5 days.
Members and Associate members are encouraged to contact their Legislators and indicate support for AB 242. If you wish to testify in support of the bill, please contact Jim McGinn at the WHCA/WiCAL office.
