Nurse Aide Training – Increasing Training Capacity and Addressing Barriers

Do you have an in-house CNA training program?  Are you having trouble providing nurse aide training due to capacity constraints?  Are nurse aide training prohibitions impacting your ability to hire and train CNAs?  With over 40% of our employers under a prohibition, this can be a hurdle for our employers working to fill vacant positions and interested in participating or already enrolled in the WisCaregiver Careers program.  However, it does not have to be a barrier.

The Wisconsin Health Care Association and LeadingAge Wisconsin have received a $6 million grant for its WisCaregiver Careers 2.0 program.  WisCaregiver Careers provides four kinds of financial support to nursing facilities, newly trained and certified CNA’s, and their mentors:  Facilities that train and successfully certified CNA candidates will receive $1,000 in reimbursements ($700 for the cost of training plus a $300 bonus); Newly certified CNA’s who stay with a facility for at least six months will receive a $500; While not a mandatory part of the program, facilities that choose to institute a mentorship program will receive an additional $500 payment that must be given to the new CNA’s mentor.

Don’t let capacity and prohibition barriers prevent you from being successful at addressing the CNA shortage.  Let us help you tap into our community and collectively solve these issues!
