CMS Issues Revised QSO-26-01-All with Clarifications on Survey Activities

CMS logo

On October 31st, we received another update from CMS with minor revisions to QSO-26-01. It was not a trick on Halloween and was more of a treat based on advocacy from AHCA on issues that members have raised in Wisconsin and across the country as issues continue to pop up as a result of the government shutdown and the guidance on allowable survey activities.

This revised update again includes new/changed language in red to make it easier to see the new language.

This update only includes two changes, firstly there is clarification for state survey agencies on the allowed surveyor training activities during the shutdown. More importantly, the revised QSO indicated that revisit surveys are allowed “If a discretionary denial of payment has been in effect, the revisit may occur provided it meets the same timeframe as allowed for a mandatory DPNA.”

This update makes it clear that revisits may occur to clear a discretionary denial of payment.

Please continue to share survey issues that you are encountering that require answers and more information with Eric and Rick so that we can escalate issues and get answers from DQA and provide information to AHCA as they seek more answers from CMS as the shutdown continues. Additionally, please continue to share other details about survey experiences that you are witnessing so that we can keep track of this information, raise issues, and escalate situations as needed.
